Boxcar - Multi-player Level Design
2009: Rogue Warrior (Xbox 360, PS3 and PC)
Multi-player level design with support for up to 16 players in death match and team death match modes. This map is comprised of 4 key areas - the train yard (primary kill zone), the rear cargo yard (Secondary kill zone) and interconnecting routes through two buildings that provide team bases, choke points and the majority of internal spawn locations on the map. These internal areas also offer a change of lighting and pace. The outside areas tend to focus on varied cover positions along with a selection of sniper nests.
Intended ExperienceRogue Warrior, is a cover-based shooter (with the cover mode activating a third person perspective) Boxcar is intended to offer a good range of cover opportunities with lots of interconnected routes on several elevations resulting in solid, fast-paced combat.
Key duties:
- Writing level design documentation and creating top-down diagrams
- Final level implementation and scripting including overall level logic
- Placing tools objects such as cover, grapple, vault and ladder nodes
- Conducting play tests, reviewing and cataloguing test data
- Balancing / re-working scenarios and encounters according to test data findings
- Critiquing and writing feedback documents for other multi-player levels
- Improving tools, pipeline & processes resulting in significant productivity gains
- Bug fixing and working closely with QA
