Killzone - Spaceport Concept

Player Story

From Terminal 2 of Spaceport 7 take on two scout snipers during a mass-evacuation of Helghast and human civilians. Use the antiaircraft guns to shot down Helghast craft as they attack transporters. The success of the evacuation depends on you.

Environment, Location & Visual Style

Spaceport 7 is a located at the base of a huge crater in Dallas, Texas. It is number 7 of 15 similar ports. The spaceport is badly damaged from battle and blackened from overuse.

Enemy Types / Objects

The key objects / enemies are the two scout snipers, player-operated anti-aircraft guns, civilian transporters and Helghast light attack craft. Ammo sites are shown in the diagrams below.

Brief Written Design

Defend the civilian transporters and hold off the helghast attack waves. Player quickly encounters two scout snipers. The player can use nearby sniper rifles against them or lay down heavy fire on their positions using the anti-aircraft guns - the snipers are shooting at the transporter pilots causing some to crash through the buildings near the players position adding to the tension. The player is exposed to sniper fire when using the anti-aircraft guns so needs to alternate between:

  1. Using the anti-air guns, targeting the Helghast attack craft and taking cover
  2. Spotting the overhead snipers as they change position and firing back
  3. Defending the civilian transporters during takeoff
The battle concludes when the player kills each sniper and the last transporter carrying civilians clears the spaceport. The player must survive the battle.

Intended Experience

A high-intensity experience as the player juggles different objectives: defending the transporters, taking out Helghast craft and avoiding and tracking the snipers. The aim is to leave players with a memorable encounter as the dramatic airlift rages on all around. An epic and cinematic long-range shootout. During the encounter, disappearing and reappearing again, the snipers will present a solid challenge until defeated and the airlift is a success.
